Why We Exist
Anchor Point Campaigns exists to provide professional, affordable, and hands-on compliance and campaign setup support to Democratic campaigns at every level, so that candidates can focus on voters, issues, and winning, while we build and protect the foundation of their campaign.
We serve candidates running for state and local office in North Carolina. These are races that file with the NC State Board of Elections or county boards of elections. This includes state House and Senate, county commissions, municipal offices, school boards, judicial races, and district attorney races.
First-time and down-ballot Democratic candidates often launch their campaigns with passion and purpose, but without a clear place to turn for the compliance filings, deadlines, and setup work every campaign needs from day one. We created APC to be that resource.

Meet the Founders
Anchor Point Campaigns is founded by two veterans of NC Democratic politics with deep roots in North Carolina's political community.
Taye Wilkinson
Co-Founder
Before politics, Taye spent 12 years in the U.S. Navy as a cybersecurity analyst, work that demanded precision, accountability, and getting it right under pressure. Those same instincts are what he brings to campaign finance compliance today.
His political career started in 2019 on the ground in South Carolina as an organizer for the Pete Buttigieg presidential campaign. When Buttigieg dropped out following the 2020 South Carolina primary, Taye headed to North Carolina, where he served as Regional Organizing Director for the NC Democratic Party and the Biden/Harris campaign. He then took on a consulting role with the Augusta-Richmond County Democratic Party for the 2021 Ossoff/Warnock Senate runoffs in Georgia, one of the most consequential election cycles in recent memory.
Since then, he has continued working deep in North Carolina legislative politics, giving him a ground-level understanding of what campaigns at every level actually need to stay compliant and competitive.
That background is the foundation of Anchor Point Campaigns, which he co-founded to bring real-world campaign experience to compliance work for local, county, municipal, and state candidates across North Carolina.
A small-town Georgia native, Taye holds a B.S. in Computer Networking and Security and a Master's in Strategic Communications. Outside of his degrees he has completed Arena Academy's Finance Director and Digital Director tracks. He now calls Raleigh home, where he lives with his 12-year-old black lab, Brix.

Matt Ballance
Co-Founder
Matt brings an array of experience from within the political realm ranging from labor leader, campaign manager, organizer, and District Chair for the North Carolina Democratic Party. Known for his pragmatic and common-sense demeanor, Matt brings a blue-collar approach to campaigns.
Growing up in the Triangle area, Matt began in politics as a volunteer at North Carolina Democratic Party headquarters during his junior year of high school. Matt became involved with the fire service while attending Warren Wilson College near Asheville, North Carolina, and has spent over 23 years as a career firefighter. Matt served as Secretary/Treasurer for nearly a decade with the Asheville Fire Fighters Association, helping lead an organization of over 300 firefighters through lobbying local, state, and federal lawmakers, building strategic messaging and media campaigns, and organizing for labor-friendly candidates. He is a graduate of the International Association of Fire Fighters' North Carolina Political Training Academy, and was selected by the IAFF to assist with organizing/field efforts for the 2020 Biden campaign in North Carolina.
Matt served as 11th Congressional District Chair for the North Carolina Democratic Party during the 2022 campaign cycle, bringing a renewed emphasis to organizing and impactful messaging across 15 counties in Western North Carolina. In recent years Matt has assisted with recruitment efforts for local and legislative races across Western North Carolina.
Matt is a 2022 Alumni of the North Carolina Institute of Public Leadership. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for WNCSource, a nonprofit based in Henderson County that administers Headstart and NC Pre-K, affordable housing, public transit, and elder services across 4 Western North Carolina Counties.
Matt currently resides in Hendersonville, North Carolina with his wife Jessica and two sons Fletcher and Levi.
